  the one star is even too much to give them. these people are completely unprofessional. Dr, Ballestas is your typical sit at his desk and type through the whole exam dr. While his staff is busy being rude to his patients and speaking to them out of line. I advise anyone who goes here not to. Especially if you take your health seriously. Lisa is extremely rude and doesn't know how to speak to people AT ALL. She shouldn't be working around anyone because of her disgusting attitude. Will never be returning to this place.

  Unfortunately I can't give him zero stars. I have a very good reason as follows. My wife wanted to meet with a different physician in Westside Primary Care facility due to an urgent medical need but ended up meeting with Dr. Ballestas. She was having high heart rate and we suspected elevated thyroid level as she has gone through two episodes in the past. It takes several weeks to get an appointment with her former endocrinologist. Also we have moved recently and she did not have a primary care physician in the current city. Even after telling him about the past problems with thyroid Dr, Ballestas prescribed her partial thyroid test with other set of tests (only TSH, no free T3, T4 were included ). After finding out extremely low TSH we called the doctors office to check whether he can request an additional test to check T3 and T4 which is standard in her all previous checkups (with the previous PCP all three were tested almost all time). Also asked the doctors to help control the symptoms until we see the specialist. I could not believe his level of arrogance which is unusual for a medical doctor. The reason we wanted to get the full test results was that, when we meet the endocrinologist in few weeks we have most complete report to start the treatments without additional delay. He insists that she should see a cardiologist and he has done everything by the protocol. No need to test other tests such as T3, T4 , testosterone, ... (he read a list of other hormones ) as those are not standard. He says he understands low TSH indicates high T3/T4 but no effort was made to manage the symptoms related to that other than referring to a cardiologist (her EKG came out normal- which I understand is not a guarantee of heart health, but we never had any issues earlier and she is perfectly fit) . We need to wait for a month to repeat the full test which we will not. Funny part is that he never referred us to follow up with the thyroid issue even after pointing that out repeatedly as he thinks he need to start with a clean sheet without considering past thyroid problems. He mentioned no treatment is needed unless the heart rate is 150, which is by the protocol. We feel this is kind of dangerous. If he is there to do everything by the protocol, a computer can easily replace him. You only need vitals and lab reports to prescribe medication or refer to a specialist. Especially PCPs can make calculated calls with their experience to make the life of their patients comfortable such as avoiding unnecessary specialist visits (especially not the the wrong one) etc. I did end up talking with him and he started "All I have to tell is what I told your wife last time". During the call with him, he was literally shouting at me which is highly unprofessional for a medical doctor. I feel he is highly negligent and the most arrogant doctor I have ever come across in my life.

  I can't attest to the experiences of other reviewers, but Dr. Ballestas has never been anything but timely and well mannered with me. The nurses are always very friendly and helpful as well. That receptionist though, she's got quite the attitude.
